High-Intermediate Pilot Class: Is This Your Next Step?
You can hold a conversation in Japanese. You can share your opinions. But when you try to explain something in more depth, you struggle. The ideas are there, but organizing them while speaking takes more effort than you’d like.
If this sounds familiar, you might be ready for the High-Intermediate level.
We’re opening a new High-Intermediate class in May. Before that, we’re holding two free pilot sessions so you can experience the class and decide for yourself if the level feels right.
Anyone is welcome to join, whether you’re currently studying with us or not.
What’s the Difference Between Intermediate and High-Intermediate?
Intermediate
At the intermediate level, the goal is to build the foundation for expressing your own ideas. You practice sharing your opinions in your own words, asking and answering questions, and taking part in conversations and discussions.
Once you feel comfortable doing that in Japanese, you may be ready for the next stage.
High-Intermediate
At the high-intermediate level, the focus shifts from what you want to say to how you organize and develop your ideas.
You practice:
explaining your opinions in a clear and structured way
discussing more abstract topics
responding to others’ ideas and building the conversation together
speaking in a way that is easy for others to follow
In the High-Intermediate class, we use Nihongo Picnic’s original articles as a starting point. You read the article, organize your thoughts, and practice explaining your ideas with reasons and examples. Then you respond to what others share and develop the discussion from there.
